Half of the Opals squad plays in the WNBA, while the other half competes in the local WNBL. Both leagues have undergone significant changes, with the WNBA seeing a massive increase in player salaries after a new collective bargaining agreement.
Magbegor believes this growth is a testament to the advocacy and hard work of those who came before her. "It's a great time to push for the advancement of women's sports, and we must continue to advocate for ourselves and each other," she said.
The WNBL, where Magbegor began her career, is also making strides, and she hopes to see it thrive alongside the WNBA.
"Exposure is key. People need to see the talent and potential in women's basketball. We have incredible athletes, and with the right investment and support, the game will flourish," Magbegor added.
